THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME PEOPLE IN THE PHILIPPINES HAVE DIED FROM DRINKING LAMBANOG. ACCORDING TO LOCAL REPORTS, AT LEAST 21 PEOPLE DIED LAST YEAR AFTER DRINKING IT.
MANILA: EIGHT PEOPLE DIED AND HUNDREDS WERE TAKEN TO HOSPITALS IN THE PHILIPPINES AFTER DRINKING COCONUT WINE BELIEVED TO CONTAIN HIGH LEVELS OF METHANOL, AUTHORITIES SAID MONDAY.
DEC. 24 (UPI) -- AT LEAST 11 PEOPLE DIED AND HUNDREDS MORE WERE SICKENED BY METHANOL-POISONED COCONUT WINE IN THE PHILIPPINES.
THE PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE OF QUEZON PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ISSUED A PUBLIC WARNING ON THE DANGER OF DRINKING LAMBANOG THAT WAS NOT CERTIFIED BY THE FOOD AND DRUGS ADMINISTRATION (FDA) AFTER NEWS REPORTS ON SUSPECTED LIQUOR POISONING CAME OUT.
ON THURSDAY, MORE THAN 10 YEARS AFTER THE 2009 MASSACRE, A COURT IN THE PHILIPPINES FOUND SEVERAL MEMBERS OF A POWERFUL POLITICAL CLAN GUILTY IN THE ATTACK.
